EXPLORE DOCKLANDS’ LIBRARY AT THE DOCK

Library at The Dock is the civic heart of Docklands, anchored prominently in Victoria Harbour and is a true community hub. As both a resident of Victoria Harbour and a mum to teens, our family makes full use of the library’s phenomenal facilities and resources. Offering a plethora of free workshops, events, and activities for all ages and interests throughout the year, the library is both a relaxing sanctuary as well as a creative, collaborative space.

As urban apartment dwellers, we all recognise the competing demands for bookshelf space, so why not take advantage of the vast offerings of books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, & CDs on loan from the library. With Interlibrary loans spanning six inner city libraries at your fingertips, a vast array of visual, & audio entertainment can be in your hands in minutes.

For young children, varying age-appropriate story time sessions are provided for babies through to pre-schoolers. The designated children’s area of the library is both colourful & engagingly designed, with its spiral & curved bookshelves adorning the space together with comfortable seating areas integrated with the shelves. Children also have a dedicated playground adjacent to the library in Buluk Park, with climbing & water activities to keep them occupied year-round.

My teens enjoy making use of the quiet study spaces to complete homework tasks, utilising the dedicated workspaces that are neither school, nor home, as well as the ventilated terrace area for table tennis, yoga, tai chi, & movie screenings.

There is always something on offer for everyone, with many resources offered in languages other than English. The library frequently runs craft & tech related workshops, as well as offering a variety of different book clubs, including Chinese.

Library at The Dock’s Makerspace is open to the public and is the perfect place for crafting, digital designing, coding, music & video production. With studio rooms & 3D printers to support all your creative pursuits.

With free Wi-Fi & a resident café, Pouring for a Purpose, part of the Social Engine family, a not-for-profit organization that trains young people at risk to give them courage to create a better future for themselves, why not settle in for a while with an excellent coffee & the latest Jane Harper novel in your hands.

As always, with COVID-19 restrictions continually changing so do check online for any changes in services & offerings.
