5 IMPROVEMENTS TO ENSURE YOUR APARTMENT STANDS OUT

With spring only days away, there has never been a better time to get your apartment ready to sell. Make no mistake, having a beautifully presented apartment is important and if not handled correctly, it will absolutely lead to a lack of interest/competition and that will cost you MONEY!

Here are 5 key must-do improvements to help you stand out from the rest.

1. Spring clean

As the meaning suggests - Spring is the time to clean! All those jobs you may have put off, windows, screens, oven, cupboards, bathroom, laundry, tiles, dry clean carpets are a must to sparkle and smell fresh and amazing.

2. De-clutter

Be honest with yourself and if it doesn’t enhance the apartment or worse make it look and feel smaller - get rid of it! By that, I mean box and store off-site anything valuable or simply head down to your local Waste refuse. Treat de-cluttering a little like packing for an overseas holiday, once the suitcase is packed, reduce it by half again… you won't regret it.

3. Fixing time

Go through your property and look for anything loose, chipped, stained, or broken. Now is the time to head down to Bunnings and replace all those items including blown downlights. Leave no stone unturned and you'll notice the drastic difference at completion.

4. Fresh Paint

There is no doubt fresh paint works wonders. Walls and ceilings slowly fade over time and I'm often asked if it is OK to paint a single wall or a single room. The answer is yes, but it will only highlight the deficiencies of what hasn’t been painted. One painted wall can sometimes mistakenly be taken as you are hiding some previous damage - if you are going to paint - do it all.

5. New Carpet

Very similar to the painting example, it will fade and deteriorate over time. Carpet can also show foot traffic, stains, odours and becomes loose and ripples or simply wears out. The new carpet not only looks great, but it also smells great (to some) and feels amazing underfoot when buyers walk through.
