MUST TRY MELBOURNE CBD RESTAURANTS
MUST TRY MELBOURNE CBD RESTAURANTS

There are many benefits to inner-city living, but I’d have to say the ultimate advantage is the convenient access to restaurants and cafes. As a foodie, there’s a good reason why I’ve lived in the inner-city for over 17 years, and honestly - I can’t imagine moving anytime soon. With new restaurants popping up left, right and centre, I love how I don’t have to travel far. Some of my favourite Melbourne CBD eateries are just a tram ride or a short walk away.

As we emerge from the latest lockdown, I find myself eating out more than usual. It’s the perfect chance to catch up with friends and family, while also supporting the hospitality industry. We all know they’ve taken a big hit in recent times, so next time you feel like treating yourself, why not give these restaurants a try! They're not only my recent favourites because of the food, combined with the service and atmosphere, it's also an unforgettable experience.

Caterina’s Cucina e Bar

Why I love it - This is my favourite Italian restaurant serving one of the best pastas in town. The moment you step into this underground haven, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Italy. They have a comprehensive menu and daily specials.
Tip - They are only open for lunch Monday – Friday
Favourite dish - Vitello Tonnato

ARU

Why I love it - The dishes are a clever fusion of the food I grew up with in Malaysia and the food I’ve learnt to love here in Australia. I love how the chefs can wow us with big flavours in what is supposed to be a simple dish.
Tip - Their cocktails are a must-try!
Favourite dish - Duck Sausage Sanga – this might look like a Bunning’s sausage sizzle but I can guarantee that it's delicious!

Yum Sing House

Why I love it - Modern Cantonese food in Hong Kong inspired 60s fit-out. The staff members are always cheerful and helpful with a simple menu and great drinks.
Tip - Head upstairs to their karaoke room and bring out the Mariah Carey/Bon Jovi in you.
Favourite dish - Hong Kong milk tea trifle with boba pearls

La Madonna

Why I love it - They use the freshest seasonal produce, where all dishes taste as good as they look. I love ordering multiple small dishes to share!
Tip - Book a seat in the adjoining Barrel Room for a drink after dinner for an immersive encounter.
Favourite dish - Compressed tomato, white soy, stracciatella and basil.
