Arkley

The Arkley was the first residential apartment complex constructed in Docklands’ lively NewQuay precinct. Developed by MAB Corporation and designed by award winning architects Fender Katsalidis and SJB Architects, the Arkley was envisioned as a strong architectural expression to define the NewQuay Promenade.

Completed in 2002, the Arkley comprises 176 apartments over 21 levels. Designed to capitalise on its waterfront locale, Arkley apartments enjoy spectacular views across Victoria Harbour to Melbourne’s city skyline.

Arkley residents enjoy access to a gymnasium, golf practice net and a magnificent rooftop pool, spa and entertaining area.

Named after notable Australian artist Howard Arkley, the Arkley is also part of Melbourne’s vibrant contemporary art scene with one of Docklands’ most-loved public artworks, the sculpture ‘Silence’ by Adrian Mauriks positioned at the Promenade entrance. Flanking the north façade is the mural ‘Outside Inside Out’ by Matthew McCarthy. A typographical tribute to the building’s namesake, this work was recognised by the Australian Graphic Design Association in its 2006 National Biennial Awards for Creative Excellence.

Docklands

Docklands was designed to connect Melbourne’s CBD to the waterfront of Victoria Harbour, converting a disused harbour frontage into a sophisticated waterfront suburb of a world class standard. From the original development at NewQuay of residential apartments, restaurants and a marina, Docklands has grown as a waterfront precinct to offer an exciting mix of city living, shopping, business, parks, entertainment, dining, sporting events, community events, arts and culture. Consisting of 200 hectares of land and water, Docklands is now home to the national headquarters for many major businesses including the National Australia Bank, ANZ, Myer, AXA, Bendigo Bank, Medibank Private and the Bureau of Meteorology.
